About Almaden
Almaden Valley is the area in the most southwestern part of San Jose. It is generally thought of as the 95120 and 95042 zip codes, but also includes small portions of several other neighboring zip codes. It is a predominantly bedroom community, but also includes several small shopping centers, schools, churches, parks, and businesses.
Almaden Valley's geographic location is south of downtown San Jose, west of the Santa Teresa section of San Jose and east of Los Gatos. Roads generally considered to form the boundaries of Almaden Valley are: Blossom Hill Road to the north, Coleman Road to the west, and the Santa Teresa foothills to the east. To the south -- between McKean Road and the coastal mountain range -- the area becomes rural and is known as the South Almaden Valley Urban Reserve. Almaden Road extends south past housing developments, through the Reserve and on to the historic town of New Almaden, which grew up around the areas mercury (quicksilver) mines after cinnabar ore was discovered there in 1848.

Almaden Valley Community Center
The Community Center offers a tremendous program of sports, hobby, etc. classes for all ages for preschool, youth, teen, and adult, with something for almost everyone. The Almaden Senior Association offers classes, groups, activities, and various services for people of age 50 and older. The facilities are available for rental with extended hours.
Police and Fire
The Almaden Valley has the services of two fire engine companies located at Bose Lane and on McKean Road. Each station has four firefighters on duty, twenty four hours a day and seven days a week. A minimum of one firefighter at each station is a paramedic; the others are Emergency Medical Technicians.
